Accessibility statement

Splash should work for everyone who has a cycle, whatever device, eyesight or way of reading.

Our target

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on this website and in the Splash app. This statement covers this website. It is based on our own design and testing, and has not yet been audited by an independent specialist. Where we fall short, we want to know.

What we design for

  • Text and controls meet AA colour contrast in both light and dark mode, which follow your device setting.
  • Everything works with a keyboard, with visible focus and a “skip to content” link.
  • If you ask your device for reduced motion, ambient animation stops.
  • Pages use real headings, landmarks and labels. Diagrams have text alternatives.
  • Text resizes to 200% without loss, and the layout reflows down to 320px wide.
  • We write in plain English at a reading age of about 9 to 11.

Known issues

  • Some app screenshots on this site show small text. The same information is in the surrounding text.
  • The in-browser encryption demo on the privacy page shows long encrypted strings, which screen readers read character by character. The result message after each step is announced instead.

Tell us about a barrier

If something doesn’t work for you, email hello@splash.care with the page and what happened. We aim to reply within 5 working days.

If you’re in the UK and not happy with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Found something hard to use? Tell me, and I’ll fix it.

Or try Splash itself: large text, dark mode and screen readers are all supported, and it’s free.
